Drum & dance woodland gathering: Bristol summer beats

  • The Underwood Centre at Arnos Vale Cemetery Bath Road Bristol, BS4 3EW United Kingdom (map)

Where drums ignite our spirits and movement awakens our joy

We welcome you to the Arnos Vale Woodlands at the Underwood Centre for an afternoon where drums pulse with primal energy and bodies dance in celebration of now.

This gathering brings together drummers and dancers in a special collaboration between Ruth and Brillo, creating a space where we honour life together beneath the summer sky.

The Underwood Centre at Arnos Vale Cemetry

Feel the power of bringing rhythm and movement to this extraordinary place - where trees embrace stone, where stories linger in the air, and where we connect deeply to life's vital essence. We celebrate fully here, finding heightened joy in this threshold space where past and present meet.

What to expect

• We'll gather around the foremother drum, set our intentions privately, and spark the afternoon's energy

• Drummers will create free-flowing rhythms that emerge naturally from our collective presence

• Dancers will move without constraint, following their bodies' wisdom

• We'll share in simple, meaningful rituals that ground us in the elements and each other

• Together we'll experience the balance of masculine and feminine energies in community

For drummers and dancers alike

This gathering calls both those who create rhythm and those who embody it through movement.

Drummers, bring your instruments and add your beat to our collective voice.

Dancers, let the drums move through you - no steps to follow, no techniques required - just the thrill of responding honestly to the moment.

Free-flow expression—through drumming or dancing—unlocks our creativity, melts away stress, and opens unexpected doorways to connection.

When we drop the "shoulds" and surrender to spontaneity, we discover new dimensions of ourselves and each other.

A note on our gathering place

The Arnos Vale Woodlands vibrate with both memory and new growth - plants push through stone, birds nest in old trees, life continues its dance.

Cultures worldwide recognise such places not merely as memorials but as powerful portals where we touch life's fullness more completely. Our drums and dancing feet honour this continuing story.
